People say that when love walks in then thats when the adventure begins.
My husband and I met 12 years ago and that first encounter is as clear in our minds now as it was then. Throughout the last 12 years we've experienced the joys and sadnesses that life throws your way but each step we have taken through these times, has been taken side by side, and the road we find ourselves on now is one of the most exciting journeys neither of us could have ever imagined taking.
We decided that we wanted to get married in New York. It would be just the two of us and we wanted to plan every aspect of it. I had holidayed in the Big Apple on a number of occasions and it had captured my heart the first time the Empire State Building came into view. I felt at home in the city and my heart ached every time I would return home. It was like no other place in the world yet it left a profound impression on me that swells more and more with love and pride for this concrete jungle.
My husband had spent a considerable amount of time in New York over the years with work and holidays and I remember him telling me once that it was the one place where he felt he could be the person he truly wanted to be. He could achieve dreams and amass a lifetime of memories that could sustain him when apart from his beloved city.
However, this would be the first time that we would be travelling to New York together and no better way to celebrate this than by getting married!
